How to Get More Enquiries From Google

If you are still chasing keyword rankings, you are about to fall off a cliff if you haven’t already. If you want to try and freshen your rankings and restore your enquiries from Google, keep reading.

To get more enquiries from Google, you need to stop thinking only about keywords and traffic and start thinking about the person behind the search. Who are they, what has gone wrong, how urgently do they need help, and why should they choose you?

That is where I begin. I have worked in SEO for more than two decades, and one of the biggest mistakes I see is businesses being told their campaign is working because traffic, impressions or rankings have increased. That sounds good until you ask the business owner a simple question: Has the phone started ringing more?

If the answer is no, something is wrong. Traffic does not automatically mean sales, and rankings do not automatically mean revenue. A website can attract thousands of visitors and still generate very little business.

The real job of SEO is to connect your business with people who are genuinely looking for the service you provide and give them enough confidence to call, request a quote or submit an enquiry.

The real job of SEO is to connect your business with people who are genuinely looking for the service you provide and give them enough confidence to call, request a quote or submit an enquiry.

Why Is My Website Getting Traffic but Not Generating Enquiries?

Your website is probably attracting the wrong searches, sending people to weak pages or making it too difficult for visitors to take the next step.

When somebody comes to me and says, “We are getting traffic, but we are not getting enquiries,” majority of new onboarding clients, the first thing I look at is the keywords responsible for that traffic. I want to know what the visitor searched, whether the search showed any intention to buy, which page Google sent them to and whether that page properly answered the problem.

I also check whether the phone number is easy to find, whether the contact forms work, whether the site is usable on mobile, whether the business looks trustworthy and whether the next step is obvious.

A person searching for general information may never intend to contact you. They may be researching, studying, looking for a job or trying to solve the problem themselves.

Their visit still appears in your traffic report, but that does not make them a prospective customer.

This is why I do not accept traffic growth as proof that SEO is succeeding. Traffic is only useful when it brings the right people. If you are seeking “ SEO services ear me ” we go into further details here as well.

What Usually Stops a Business From Getting More Google Enquiries?

The biggest problems are usually wrong keyword targeting, weak websites, poor service pages, no clear offer, lack of authority, bad conversion design and cheap SEO that does not fund enough real work.

Most of the time, it is not one problem. It is several problems working against the business at once. You may be ranking for the wrong searches, your website may look outdated or be difficult to use, your service pages may not explain what you actually do, or the visitor may not understand why they should choose you.

Your phone number may be buried in the footer, your form may be broken, or you may not have enough reviews, case studies, project examples or outside authority. The campaign may also simply be underfunded.

Cheap SEO is a huge problem because it usually means the provider does not have enough time or budget to complete the work properly. You cannot expect strong technical work, quality service pages, content, authority building, conversion improvements and legitimate links from a campaign that only pays for a few hours of attention each month.

What Is Going Wrong? How It Reduces Enquiries
Wrong search targeting Attracts information seekers instead of buyers.
Weak website Makes the business look less capable or trustworthy.
Poor service pages Fails to explain the service or solve the customer’s problem.
No clear offer Leaves visitors unsure about what they can request.
Lack of authority Gives customers little reason to choose the business.
Bad conversion design Makes calling or submitting an enquiry difficult.
Cheap SEO Leaves essential SEO and conversion work incomplete.

How Do I Know Whether a Searcher Is Ready to Buy?

A serious buyer usually searches with a clear problem, a service requirement, a location, a timeframe or some sign of urgency. The more specific the search, the more useful it becomes.

Search What It Probably Means
What causes a blocked toilet? General research.
How do I unblock a toilet? Probably a DIY search.
Blocked toilet plumber Campbelltown Looking for a local provider.
Who can fix a blocked toilet tonight in Campbelltown? Strong urgency and hiring intent.

Words such as “near me,” “tonight,” “after hours,” “emergency,” “open now,” “repair,” “replacement,” “quote,” “specialist,” “who can help” and “available on public holidays” often indicate commercial intent.

People do not always know the professional name of the service they need. They describe what has happened. A homeowner might search, “Who can remove a broken key from my front-door lock?” A factory manager might ask, “Who can inspect and repair a pressure vessel in Australia?” A business owner might search, “Why is my website getting traffic but no enquiries?”

The job of good SEO is to recognise the commercial meaning behind those questions and build the right page around them.

Wrong Keyword research

Which Keywords Look Valuable but Often Produce Nothing?

Broad, high-volume keywords can look impressive in SEO software while attracting almost nobody who wants to become a customer.

Some of the least commercially useful traffic comes from DIY searches, definitions, student research, job seekers, training questions, searches outside the service area, general industry information and people looking for free advice.

That does not mean every informational article is useless. Informational content can build authority, answer questions and support your main service pages. The mistake is treating all traffic as equal.

An article answering “What is a pressure vessel?” may help build topical relevance. A page answering “Who manufactures mining pressure vessels in Australia?” is far more likely to reach a real buyer. Both pages can have a place, but they have different jobs.

What Website Problems Cause Visitors to Leave Without Calling?

People leave when the website they are visiting is confusing, slow, difficult to use or does not explain what they should do next.

The most damaging issues I regularly see are phone numbers that are hard to find, confusing navigation, slow mobile performance, broken forms, missing service pages and no explanation of what happens after an enquiry.

These problems become even more serious when the customer needs urgent help. Someone locked out of a house does not want to click through five pages to find your number. Someone dealing with a burst pipe does not want to wait for a slow mobile page. Someone looking for a specialist engineering company should not have to guess whether you provide the service they need.

Your website should make the next step obvious: call now, request an inspection, ask for a quote or speak directly with the specialist. That is far more useful than a vague button saying “Learn More.”

What Must a Service Page Include to Generate Enquiries?

Now bear in mind what you’re about to read is important, but for this to work, you MUST have authority and trustworthiness about your site. Having said that, a good service page should tell the visitor who you are, what you do, who you help, where you work, what problem you solve and why they should contact you.

Every important service page should clearly establish the business, the exact service, the intended customer, the service area, the customer’s problem and the solution being offered. It should also explain why the business can be trusted through real experience, projects, reviews, qualifications and case studies.

Your pages should make your visitor think:

These people understand my problem, provide the service I need and have made it easy for me to contact them.

The phone number, form or quote request should be easy to find, all too obvious, actually.  If the visitor has to search for the next step, the page is not doing its job properly.

Should a Commercial Search Have a Service Page or a Blog Post?

A search showing clear hiring intent should usually be targeted with a service page, not hidden inside a blog post.

This is where many businesses go wrong. They publish an article about an important service and expect it to generate leads, but the article has no clear offer, no service explanation, no location relevance and no direct enquiry path.

For example, “Damaged sewer pipe repairs Campbelltown” should be a service page. “How do I know if my sewer pipe is damaged?” can be a supporting article. “Blocked drain or damaged sewer pipe: what is the difference?” can be a comparison article.

The service page targets the buyer. The supporting content answers related questions and strengthens the topic. That is how a useful content cluster should work.

What Happened When PK SEO’s Own Enquiries Fell?

Our phone calls started falling before our main keyword rankings disappeared, and that told me traditional rankings were no longer enough.

The decline continued for at least 12 months. The website still ranked for many of the terms we had targeted, but the enquiries kept dropping. The old SEO model had relied heavily on keyword rankings and informational service pages.

As AI became more prevalent, people began receiving more answers without needing to visit a website. AI Overviews made that situation worse because Google was taking more of the answer and displaying it directly in the search results.

I could have sat there blaming Google, but that would not have made the phone ring again. We had to adapt.

I realised that we needed to stop leading with “We provide SEO services” and start with the customer’s actual problem: Why has your phone stopped ringing? Why are you ranking but not getting calls? Why are competitors appearing in AI answers while your business is missing?

That was a major shift. We had to explain more clearly who PK SEO helps, what problems we solve, why our experience matters, how SEO has changed and why AI search must now form part of the same strategy.

The lesson was simple: you have to answer the customer’s problem before trying to sell the service.

What Changes Helped PK SEO Adapt to AI Search?

We became more direct, more experience-led and much clearer about who we were, what we did and who we helped.

We started answering real customer questions, writing from first-hand experience, publishing genuine opinions, creating clearer service pages, building problem-focused content, adding real case studies and strengthening Peter Karpouzas as the expert behind PK SEO.

We also improved schema and entity signals, built authority outside the website, targeted conversational searches and combined traditional SEO with GEO and AI optimisation.

AI did not kill SEO. It changed what useful SEO content needs to look like. A generic page saying, “We offer professional SEO services,” does very little. A page explaining why a business is losing enquiries, what caused the problem and how it can be fixed is far more useful.

How Did Promec Engineering Begin Attracting Better Enquiries?

Promec improved when we clearly established who they were, what they did and who their specialist engineering services were for.

Before that work, the site did not communicate the company’s capabilities strongly enough. It did not connect specific engineering services with the industries and buyers looking for them.

We built highly focused pages around real technical requirements instead of chasing broad engineering traffic. One mining surge-vessel page reached number one organically, appeared in Google AI Overviews and generated three enquiries in one week. It also helped attract lucrative commercial opportunities.

The results began appearing within about two weeks, which is incredibly fast and not something I would normally promise. What changed was clarity. We made the business understandable by clearly explaining who Promec was, what it manufactured and serviced, which industries it worked with, which technical problems it solved and why it had the experience to complete the work.

Promec did not need thousands of random visitors. It needed a small number of highly valuable buyers. That is the difference between traffic and commercial visibility.

Why Do the All Solutions Locksmiths Pages Generate Calls?

They generate calls because the pages answer the exact problem the customer is dealing with at that moment.

People are not searching because they want to learn about locks. They are searching because they are locked out, their key has snapped, their lock is damaged, their door will not secure, they need help after hours or they need a locksmith in Campbelltown.

The site uses cluster pages built around different lock problems. Those pages strengthen one another through internal links, topical coverage and location relevance. They also help with AI Overview visibility because the site answers specific questions clearly.

We have also used high-authority news and PR releases to build outside recognition and trust. The process is straightforward: the customer has a problem, the page gives the answer, the business provides the service and the phone number is visible.

That is how SEO should generate enquiries.

Why Does Cheap SEO Usually Fail?

Cheap SEO usually fails because there is not enough time or budget to complete quality work.

I have dealt with businesses paying less than $1,000 per month for SEO. I have done away with them. No more. Absolute time wasters. I no longer service clients, startups or existing businesses, if they can not at least invest $2200 per month. This buys something in terms of some growth to start happening. Anything less than this really is pointless, especially with off page resources such as quality links required to build authority and trust signals.

These are not people or businesses that want to grow. They want to save money, waste valuable time, and chase their tails going in circles, when the funding required to buy the resources and time, clearly isn’t there to begin with, but they want everything for cheap as chips.

In one case, a client of ours was more concerned about saving money than growing their business. They wanted quick fixes, resisted recommendations that required greater investment, constantly interfered with the work and then blamed the provider, ” US ” when results did not improve.

Eventually, we ended the relationship. PK SEO is not suited to that kind of client.

I do not want clients who care more about keeping the monthly fee low than building a stronger business. I want clients who want serious growth, are prepared to invest, take professional advice, allow the strategy to be implemented, stop chasing shortcuts and commit for the long term.

In my experience, most established businesses in competitive Australian service industries need to invest  $3,300 per month on average. That level of investment buys the time needed to work on the site properly. $2200 is the bare minimum for startups or existing businesses.

Is Google Maps Enough?

No. Nowhere near enough, actually. Google Maps can help, but it cannot replace a strong website and a complete SEO strategy.

I would rather a client have a well-managed Google Business Profile than not have one. It helps with local visibility, reviews, calls, directions, business information, photographs and trust.

But Maps has limitations. You cannot build an entire website inside a map listing. You cannot properly explain every service, project, question, comparison, case study and area of expertise. Maps are also heavily tied to local searches.

A strong website can help you appear across multiple services, wider service areas, national searches, industry questions, AI Overviews, organic results and problem-based searches.

Customers are also becoming more aware of fake or manipulated reviews. Reviews still matter, but they are not enough by themselves. The website, Google Business Profile, reviews, service pages, case studies, schema, brand mentions, and outside authority should all support one another.

How Do AI Overviews and ChatGPT Affect Enquiries?

Your business now needs to be understandable and credible enough to be used as an answer, citation or recommendation—not just ranked as a traditional link.

That means you need direct answers, clear business information, real expertise, structured service pages, original case studies, consistent entity signals, relevant schema, external brand mentions, strong location and service relevance and evidence of real work.

Traditional SEO and GEO should be part of the same strategy. Adding “AI SEO” to an invoice does not make a weak site authoritative.

A business still needs a technically sound website, clear content, useful service pages, authority, trust, experience and commercial relevance. AI search does not remove the need for SEO. It raises the standard.

What Should You Measure Instead of Traffic Alone?

You should measure enquiries, quote requests, phone calls, lead quality and visibility for the services that make your business money.

Useful measurements include phone calls, form submissions, quote requests, bookings, commercial keyword rankings, pages producing leads, Google Business Profile actions, lead quality, AI Overview visibility, AI citations, conversion rates and revenue opportunities.

Traffic and impressions can still help with diagnosis, but I do not care how large the traffic graph looks if nobody is contacting the business.

One serious caller may be worth more than thousands of people reading a general article.

How Can You Recognise a Serious Enquiry?

Well, when it comes to our own line of work, and I’ve had them more than enough times than I care to remember, serious buyers usually want to know whether you can solve the problem and when you can begin.

They are focused on the outcome. They might ask, “Can you restore our enquiries?”, “What needs to be fixed?” or “When can you start “

They are not interested in what we do or how we do it.

It is like taking your car to a mechanic for repairs. You don’t ask how he goes about doing the repairs on your car, you ask if he can fix it and how much it will cost. There is no difference here with us or your own services.

People who ask endless questions without showing any intention to engage are often fishing for free information. That does not mean a good customer cannot ask questions. They should understand what they are paying for.

But there is a difference between a buyer and somebody trying to extract the entire strategy for nothing. PK SEO is built for businesses that value experience and are serious about growth.

What Can You Expect During the First Six Months?

Within six months, most normal-sized websites should have their major on-site problems corrected and a far stronger foundation for rankings and enquiries.

Depending on the website, the work can include technical fixes, navigation improvements, keyword and customer research, service-page redevelopment, new cluster pages, internal linking, conversion improvements, schema, Google Business Profile work, AI search optimisation, authority building, Search Console analysis, reporting and planning.

Enquiries can sometimes begin during the first month, particularly where competition is manageable and we start answering questions customers are already asking.

But I do not guarantee instant results. Reliable authority and consistent enquiry growth generally require six months or longer.

What Should You Do When the Phone Stops Ringing?

Call PK SEO when your phone stops ringing. It is that simple. Do not immediately assume you need more traffic. Start by asking who your customers are, what problems they have and how you help them, and if you need help, we are here to help restore your rankings and enquiries.

Then look at which keywords are bringing traffic, whether those searches show buyer intent, whether visitors are landing on the correct page, whether the page answers their problem, whether your experience is obvious, whether your phone number is easy to find, whether the form works, whether the next step is clear, whether you have enough authority, whether you are visible in AI search and whether you are investing enough to fix the problem properly.

More traffic will not repair a broken strategy. The right person landing on the right page and finding the right answer is what creates an enquiry.

Why Is PK SEO the Best Choice for Generating More Google Enquiries?

Because we do our damn job and we genuinely care whether our clients grow.

I do not get excited because a traffic report looks impressive. I get excited when a client calls and says the phone is ringing again, they have received a major enquiry, the work has helped save the business, or they could not have achieved the result without us.

That means more to me than producing reports full of numbers with no connection to real business growth.

When you work with PK SEO, you deal directly with me, Peter Karpouzas. Your campaign is not passed to a junior account manager. I look at who your customers are, what they need, which searches show buyer intent, what is wrong with the website, why traffic is not converting, what authority is missing and how Google and AI search should work together.

Why is PK SEO the best? Because we care. We give a damn about our clients’ growth, and we take pride in hearing that the work has made a real difference.

How Can PK SEO Help You Get More Enquiries From Google?

How do I get more enquiries from Google?

To get more enquiries from Google, you need to target searches used by people ready to buy, answer their problem clearly and make it easy for them to call or request a quote. PK SEO builds campaigns around enquiries rather than traffic alone. Call Peter Karpouzas on 0418 118 998.

Your traffic may be coming from informational searches rather than customers looking to hire someone. Weak service pages, hidden phone numbers, confusing navigation and poor calls to action can also reduce leads. PK SEO can identify where your enquiries are being lost; call 0418 118 998.

The strongest searches usually include a specific service, problem, location or urgency, such as “after-hours locksmith Campbelltown” or “who can repair a blocked toilet tonight?” PK SEO targets these buyer-intent searches instead of chasing empty traffic. Speak with Peter on 0418 118 998.

Some improvements can appear within weeks, but reliable rankings, authority and enquiry growth generally require six months or longer. The timeframe depends on your website, competition and current authority. PK SEO will give you an honest assessment on 0418 118 998.
